Meet Erik Sweet, Senior Landscape Architect, Landscape Architecture Market Lead, and all-around great guy here at Sanderson Stewart. In 2022, the Montana State Governor’s office and the Montana State Legislature made a push for professional licensure deregulation. Passionate about professional examination and licensure, Erik worked with the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) and the Council for Landscape Architects Registration Board (CLARB) to thwart the Montana legislation. His efforts, along with his membership at large and role on the executive committee of the Idaho Montana (IDMT) chapter of ASLA, led to him being nominated and approved as a member of the 2023 ASLA National LARE Prep Committee. As a member, Erik is representing IDMT ASLA and other regional chapters and assisting in updating the LARE examination and helping steer the continued growth of the discipline in Idaho and Montana.

Erik has over 27 years of experience in landscape architecture and is an expert in sports facility, park, playground, and commercial landscape design. He has helped numerous growth-minded landscape architecture professionals by developing study materials and facilitating Landscape Architecture Registration Exam (LARE) prep courses. He is the author of LARE Review Section D Practice Problems: Design and Construction Documentation, a study guide for the LARE.

Erik holds a B.S. in Landscape Architecture from Washington State University and is licensed in Montana, Colorado, North Dakota, Washington, Idaho, and Oregon. He has been responsible for projects that have taken him across North America, Europe, and the Caribbean.

Thanks for helping grow more Landscape Architects, Erik!
