PLACEMAKING STUDIO MANAGER

Sanderson Stewart is looking for a talented professional to lead our multi-office Placemaking Studio from our Bozeman, MT location. We are seeking an individual with 10+ years of experience working as a Landscape Architect, Urban Designer, or Community Planner with demonstrated experience leading a team of diverse professionals. The position will include both management of projects and the overall work of the studio. Previous work experience should include a variety of completed projects that demonstrates successful design, project management, and implementation. The position will lead and inspire design professionals within the Placemaking Studio and across the firm utilizing our integrated design approach.

Sanderson Stewart works on a wide range of projects at a variety of scales throughout the Inter-Mountain West. The position requires skills to oversee and manage project teams from conceptual design through construction administration. Our work includes comprehensive plans, downtown plans, mixed use and small-scale site design projects.

The ideal candidate will be able to balance client, company, and project team responsibilities, including project leadership, oversight of project documents and deliverables, and supervising the people within the Placemaking Studio.

As Studio Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Coordinating the work of the Placemaking Studio
• Collaborating in the development and monitoring of long-term plans, goals, and objectives for the Studio focused on achieving Sanderson Stewart’s mission and priorities
• Coordinating the activities of the Placemaking Studio with other management across the firm
• Fostering an inclusive culture of learning, innovation, and collaboration within the Studio
• Directing, coaching, and evaluating the performance of staff assigned to the Placemaking Studio

As Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for: 

• Leading landscape architecture and/or community planning projects that vary in type, size, and scale with a high level of proficiency
• Producing deliverables including plans, specifications, cost estimates, and construction observations
• Providing project management and team leadership through all phases of the projects
• Developing relationships with clients and providing world class customer service
• Participating in marketing and business development opportunities
• Pay range for this position is $95k—$120k per year.

Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, or related field from an accredited university
• Certification or licensure (AICP for planners, PLA or RLA for landscape architects)
• A minimum of 10 years of prior experience working as a Community Planner, Urban Designer, or Landscape Architect
• Experience reviewing work products and providing direction to staff
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office products. ArcGIS, AutoCAD and Land F/X are a plus.
