Lone Peak High School is in Big Sky Montana, one hour south of Bozeman in the rapidly-developing Gallatin County. The Big Sky School District (with help from the school board, community members and staff members) developed a master plan for the Lone Peak High School and Ophir Middle School facilities. Utilizing a $23.5M bond, the school district kicked off the first phase of the master plan, which included the development of the outdoor athletic facilities.
As part of this work, Sanderson Stewart recently completed the design and construction administration of a new 8 lane synthetic rubberized running track and new infill synthetic turf field. The project includes a new 8 lane competition track, an infill synthetic turf Field for 8-man football and soccer. New Musco LED sports field lighting with fully shielded full cut off fixtures. Sanderson Stewart was responsible for all grading, drainage, layout, detailing, technical specifications and construction administration for the new facility.
From the Lone Peak Lookout; “The field will be incredibly beneficial to the LPHS football program. The team has played many harsh weather games throughout the years and the all weather turf field will be much more equipped to handle the harsh conditions than the old field. “Because of our local climate, the old field was pretty much unusable the majority of the year,” Shipman said.
